Exposing the lies of Khalid Mahmood

Pictured above is a cheeky little liar and a scoundrel named Khalid Mahmood, Perry Bar Labour MP constituency of Birmingham. I have seen him on TV a few times and was shocked by many of his, what I deemed to be, idiotic comments. A few minutes ago I saw him again on “Newsnight,” channel 4. Krishnan Guru-Murthy was the host and Mahmood was lying as usual. The discussion was about Tony Blair’s recent ridiculous statement that many Muslims had supposedly a “false sense” of grievance against the West. On the panel were, first, our liar and sell-out Khalid Mahmood, the neo-con extremist Charles Moore friend of Mahmood, Dr. Azzam Tamimi, and Asghar Bukhari. Generally, Asghar Bukhari and Dr. Tamimi did well, although I do not agree with all of their views, but what really shocked me were Khalid Mahmood’s absurd comments.

Basically, Khalid Mahmood tried to give the misleading impression that nothing was going on before 9-11. He alleged that the Khawarij Osama Bin Laden, a man I deeply despise, never complained about Palestine and said nothing about Israel! Thus, before 9-11, there was no Israeli-Palestinian grievance among Muslims, then, out of the blue, came 9-11 and all the Muslim grievances against the West emerged from then on. Hence, the impression being, that only after 9-11 did Muslims began complaining about Israel! Let me paraphrase (very close to his original wording) Khalid Mahmood (emphasis added):

What happened before 9-11? Where was the foreign policy . . . Osama Bin Laden had no issues on Palestine or Israel before 9-11 . . . not before 9-11, c’mon, this whole thing was started by followers of al-Qaeda when there were no issues, before which there was nobody Afghanistan and nobody in Iraq . . .look at the time line . . .”

What a liar! A LOT HAPPENED BEFORE 9-11! Yes, Khalid Mahmood needs to follow the time line attentively as that would save him from becoming a bafoon the next time he appears on television. Khalid Mahmood needs to read an elementary introductory book on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as I did in my history class in school, to learn that this conflict predates 9-11 by a solid 6 decades! Muslims around the world have been constantly – and quite rightfully so – complaining about Israel’s war crimes, occupations, killings, warmongerings, and voicing their grave concerns regarding the completely bias US (and UK) foreign policy in all this time – that is, long before 9-11.

Liars like Khalid Mahmood attempt to desperately argue as if “nothing” happened prior to 9-11 and that it was all rosy, calm and peaceful before this tragic event. That Muslims in general, even Osama Bin Laden, were not complaining about anything before 9-11. Unfortunately, some people tend to swallow such lies, one of them being the self-delusional Tony Blair. The fact is that long before 9-11, over half a million Iraqis were killed by the brutal sanctions; Palestinian civilians were (and are) regularly attacked and killed by the Israelis (with American blessings); well over 200,000 Chechens were slaughtered (still being slaughtered) in cold blood by the Russians (with US approval); thousands of Kashmiris were (and are) murdered by the Indians; thousands and thousands of Muslims were murdered in Bosnia – the UK allowing the atrocities to continue for years – Israeli terrorism in Lebanon etc. Moreover, the West, primarily the US, has been the traditional supporter of a host of undemocratic, secular, cruel and barbaric regimes throughout the Islamic world, arming, aiding and financially supporting these client regimes. Thus, the West, particularly the Americans, have had a highly active and a very negative involvement in the Muslim world for decades which has resulted in the deaths of countless. Muslims had been raising these – and other – issues long before 9-11. Much happened before 9-11, so much so that that it eventually led to some misguided vigilantes and desperate extremists to repay the Americans by adopting the traditional American way and practise of targeting innocent civilians (see this, this and this. The Americans are well-known for the systematic killing and terrorisation of entire civilian populations directly or through clients, for example in Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, Central America, Iraq etc. Not to mention the current widespread terrorism and war crimes being committed by the Americans, see this and this).

Another assertion made by Khalid Mahmood was that Osama Bin Laden did not raise the issue of Israel-Palestine before 9-11. However, a search on google would be sufficient to render this assertion a white lie. Granted, Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist and I really hope that he soon ends up in Guantanamo Bay where the Americans would molest him to their hearts delight, but we should not lie about individuals we hate, despise and disagree with. Osama Bin Laden always kept the issue of Palestine at the top of his list. Three of his major grievances were as follows: 1. occupation of Palestine and the blind American support of Israeli aggression; 2. the sanctions upon Iraq which cost the lives of half a million; 3. the presence of the American troops in Saudi Arabia. For instance, in the early 1990’s (perhaps I should inform Khalid Mahmood that the early 1990’s is prior to 9-11!), we are told that (emphasis added):

“. . . Bin Laden condemned the U.S. military presence in Saudi Arabia, criticized the international sanctions regime on Iraq, and voiced his opposition to U.S. support for Israel.7

So, contrary to Khalid Mahmood’s lie, Osama Bin Laden did bring up the issue of Palestine before 9-11, in fact, from day one of his misguided career.

To further expose the liar Khalid Mahmood, Osama Bin Laden had this to say in an interview in 1998 (Khalid, 9-11 took place after 1998, really!) – (emphasis added):

“The call to wage war against America was made because America has spear-headed the crusade against the Islamic nation, sending tens of thousands of its troops to the land of the two Holy Mosques over and above its meddling in its affairs and its politics, and its support of the oppressive, corrupt and tyrannical regime that is in control. These are the reasons behind the singling out of America as a target. And not exempt of responsibility are those Western regimes whose presence in the region offers support to the American troops there. We know at least one reason behind the symbolic participation of the Western forces and that is to support the Jewish and Zionist plans for expansion of what is called the Great Israel. Surely, their presence is not out of concern over their interests in the region. … Their presence has no meaning save one and that is to offer support to the Jews in Palestine who are in need of their Christian brothers to achieve full control over the Arab Peninsula which they intend to make an important part of the so called Greater Israel. …”

Please note, as I mentioned above, I am absolutely opposed to the Khawarij Osama and his band of not so merry loonies, but the point is that Khalid Mahmood simply LIED when he insisted that the Palestinian issue was not raised by Osama before 9-11 and he was being exceedingly deceptive when he gave the blatantly misleading impression that “nothing” whatsoever was going on before 9-11, as if the event of 9-11 occurred in a vacuum for no reason.

Moreover, Khalid Mahmood kept repeating that his opponents did not represent the overwhelming majority of Muslims. Well, he forgot that even if they did not represent the overwhelming majority of Muslims, they, nevertheless, still represent far, far, far more Muslims than Khalid Mahmood can ever dream of “representing” in his entire lifetime.

Of course, like many, I am indeed upset at this charlatan’s mind boggling statements, but I guess we should also feel happy knowing the fact that he occasionally comes on TV and always manages to successfully embarrass himself with his silly comments.
